L Groundworks carried out the full groundworks package on this new build in West Mersea, taking the plot from bare ground to a finished slab and block paved driveway for the main contractor.
Mersea Island sites bring their own challenges, including tidal access over the Strood. The builder needed a groundworks team who could handle the whole below-ground package and tie the driveway and external hard standing in at the end.
What we did
- Site strip and reduced-level dig, with muck-away timed around the causeway tides
- Foundations excavated and poured to the engineer's design
- Below-ground drainage, inspection chambers and service ducts installed and tested
- Oversite and ground-floor slab prepared ready for the frame
- Block paved driveway and paths laid once the build was weather-tight, with correct falls to the drainage
